About Me
Where do I begin?
Academically, I graduated from East Chicago Central High School in 2003. I attended Purdue University in West Lafayette for 5 years. I graduated in May 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Management. After graduating, I moved to New York (without family and friends) to work with Verizon Wireless. My time in NY was a certainly a learning experience, which involved me becoming an independent woman. On the other hand, I experienced culture shock moving on the east coast coming from the Midwest, and sometimes I felt home sick. After living in NY for 2.5 years, I reconnected with a high school friend. We fell in love and the rest is history. Ok, not really! But I will touch more on this later.
After being homesick and working on a long distance relationship, I decided to move back to the Midwest. I moved to Kentucky in December 2010 to begin a future with my H.S. friend, and I continued to work with VZW. After working with them for almost 4 years, I was not entirely happy with my career choice. Plain and simple, I was miserable! I had a void that needed to be filled. After reminiscing about my past, I realized I was supposed to pursue engineering to begin with. I changed my mind my senior year of high school because I was intimidated by a male dominated field. Now that I think about it, I do not know what is so scary about guys! Intimidation can only make us stronger, if we do not break under pressure. I tend to think of myself as a very strong individual.
After consulting with my now fiancée, we decided it was a great idea for me to leave VZW to chase my dream of becoming an engineer. Not too many people are granted this opportunity, a second chance at life. I have a greater determination than my first time around, and I couldn’t be more thankful for my fiancée, who supported this decision.

Currently, I am pursuing my B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Cincinnati. I have the opportunity to obtain both my B.S. and M.S. in a bridge program offered by UC called ACCEND. The program allows me to receive both degrees in 5 years. (Can’t beat that, right?) So, what am I looking to do with this degree? Good question! Honestly, I am not sure yet. I have looked into researching nanotechnology, sources of renewable energy, and robotics. I have considered taking the industry route and engineering with a big company. I also contemplated working as faculty for a university, which is a different type of lifestyle. There are so many paths I can take with this degree that it is almost overwhelming. Fortunately for me, UC requires students in engineering to co-op. This will definitely help me decide which career path is right for me.
Working toward an engineering education can be very challenging. At times, I need someone to encourage me and provide a crutch for me to lean on. My support system includes my fiancée Pandy (and yes that is his nickname), my Mommie, and my Titi Evy (aunt). These three people are very important and special to me in so many ways. They tell me when I am wrong and when I am right. They encourage me when I am discouraged, and they help share my success. Everyone needs at least one person on their team, and luckily I have three.
In my spare time, I like to spend time with Pandy and my family. I have many nieces and nephews from my side of the family, Pandy’s side, and from my close friends. My dream is to travel the world. We try to go on mini vacations within the U.S. as much as we can, but I want to travel outside of the U.S. in the near and far future.
During my time at UC, I transitioned into University Honors. This site will act as my portfolio and will include all my experiences at UC and beyond. Please keep checking back to track my progress. I promise it will get better every year.
